Personally, I wouldn't have a problem with the touch-move; however, I doubt we'll see that any time soon.
Alternatively, and this has been addressed here many times before, I wish the rules would state that a player, when looking at a possible play, must return all checkers to the original position prior to looking at another possible play. Further, another rule I would like to see would demand that, when looking at potential plays, checkers must be offset or somehow otherwise designated as being in a temporary position -- should a player make a legal move w/o offsetting, or otherwise allowing the temporarily moved checkers to be defined, his/her move is deemed completed. This rule would take precedence, in clocked matches, of touching the clock to signal the end of a move.
Harsh, but effective. Simple to implement. Eliminates the 'three card monty' gamesmanship and also eliminates inadvertent confusion resulting from the careless movement and placement of checkers.
