In Response To: Backgammon vs Poker bankroll calculations (Chuck Bower)

This subject is of interest to me, but requires far more time and energy than I am willing to devote to it. Often people say that the swings are "bigger" in poker (or backgammon, if they're so inclined), which kind of invites the question: with respect to what? One hand of poker versus one game of backgammon? Well, that is quite likely, since you can play far more hands of poker than you can games of backgammon--roughly 85% of your hands will be losing ones if you're a +EV player playing at a 10-handed limit table. Standardizing in terms of hourly win rate and hourly SD seems like a better idea, but I'd need more data on that.
