Actually, though, only the part of the example that assumes you win 7.2/12 games is wrong. The whole exmaple doesn't depend on that.
However many games you win, though, your pre-rake gross is still $5 * 12 games * 0.2 ppg = $12, and the total handle is still $5 * 2 players * 2.3 points per game * 12 games = $276 and the house rake is still $5 * 2 players * 2.3 points per game * 12 games times * 3.9% = $10.76. So close to half the rake comes out of the games the favorite wins, instead of 60%. My mistake. That brings the favorite's hourly post-rake net to about $6.60, not $5.54. The house is still making ~about twice what the favorite makes on this session.
