the EPC take/pass formula ("point of last take") yields a wrong result

I wonder why you think that what you used in your OP is *the* EPC take/pass formula? Where did you get that formula from? It does look like something in Trice's "Bootcamp", in the chapter "Pips and Rolls", and pips-vs-rolls is exactly the type of position that formula is meant to be restricted to.
