Why We Love the Game -- Atlanta Version

You have to be a bit of a sadomasochist to play this game, and fortunately I was able to enjoy my sadist side a bit on Saturday. :-)
First I relished finally having the opportunity to leave Fogerlund pissed off at the end of a match rather than just in the middle of it.
Then my next opponent was so rattled by my good dice that at 3-away 8-away he played his deuce-point game against my blitz as if he was 2-away and gammons didn't matter, and passed up numerous opportunities to get off the backgammon while building a prime on his side of the board. Of course being the courteous gentleman that I am, I did not wish to distract him with idle talk during the match, so it wasn't until he went to concede the match that I pointed out that if he could get his two checkers on my deuce point out of my inner board on his last roll, the match could continue. But he couldn't find a workable play with the 4-2 he rolled so that was that. (I'm pretty sure he had the correct score written on his scoresheet, our scoreboard was correct, and I always repeat the score between games).
I actually thought I had never had better dice in a match than that one until my next match with you, Bill. This is why I ALWAYS shake my dice vigorously, so nobody can doubt that my rolls are random. :-)
I did go up to Karen Davis the next day and thanked her, as of the four opponents I beat on Saturday, she was the only one who was gracious in defeat. Don't take it the wrong way Bill, I don't blame you for being upset. I was still trying to win you some more money via the Calcutta on Sunday against Stuart, but the worm turned on me in that match.
Sometimes I just love pissing people off! :-)
