I strongly disagree that one should play much quicker early in a long match. Suppose you lose a game palying quickly and then that match gets to dmp. That error actually was huge, you just didn't know it at the time.

Here is a thought experiment. Suppose that you play 21 one point games and whoever wins more wins that match. Your same logic would show that an error in the first game is much more costly than an error in the last game at dmp. But every game counts equally to the score.
