Rule 1 - "hitting off the edge of the prime"

Blue has a broken 4-prime and hitting off the edge is usally a good rule to apply.

Rule 2: "attack one man back"

Rule 1 overlaps here somewhat since blue should fill the ace when (a) white dances and (b) when blue is unable to fill in the 4pt. Nevertheless this rule applies across the board most of the time.

Rule 3: "provoke contact when behind in the race"

This rule is a lot more complicated to exercute successfully. Maybe its in the wording where this rule is often misapplied. Although, hitting on the ace does provoke contact but then what with the other 3 aces? Spreading builders to target the important 4pt is perhaps too provocative! Altering the rule to say: "maximise contact when behind in the race" could also be misleading. For instance, it would suggest we shouldn't move the checkers furthest away as in the case of 20/19(2). Often we need to look elsewhere to determine where the real threat is coming from. I opt for this definition:

Rule 3: "Prioritise contact when behind in the race"

The priority of the 10pt has been conveyed by others except me; I simply didn't consider it because I was more concerned with maximising contact. This type of problem where contact is a factor when behind in the race occurs often and is subtly ingrained with conflicting contact objectives.
