In my 2011 post I said, "If such a system were adopted, I contend that worldwide tournament attendance and general interest in backgammon would rise."

Your recent Florida tournament only drew 16 in the Open and 5 in the Intermediate. That's very poor attendance.

I just found that poker has a worldwide ranking system, GPI: http://www.globalpokerindex.com/ It looks worthy of adaptation to backgammon.
