I took a look at your club web site. Looks like a good club... why don't I recognize any (many?) of the people from your club as regulars on the ABT? What, is this not something I'm supposed to criticize? It's just a "fun" club, your job isn't to groom the next crop of ABT participants? Maybe it would be nice to get local players to attend ABT tournaments, but there's a bunch of stuff out of your control?

What's my point? Lay off Chiva. You're bullying him, unnecessarily. There's no universal agreement about how to promote backgammon and how to run tournaments. The attendance numbers you quote are, on the face of it, pretty lousy, but why is that necessarily his fault? Could there not be factors out of his control? Chiva has done some amazing things by running tournaments in cities all over the States. Fine, you can disagree with how you think he should run tournaments, but I think your tone is pretty rude.
