Every year I ask my wife to stop directing Illinois State because of grief caused by inappropriate behaviour by one or more players with a sense of entitlement. So far I have not convinced her. If it happens again, I will try again.
I am entirely in favor of players making suggestions and expressing their preferences. Those that pound on the table insisting they know what is best while they sit on their hands should either get involved or turn down the volume. Don't discourage those who are actually doing the work. As an example of appropriate constructive criticism, Neil didn't like his late night conso match at Illinois State last year. Rather than simply bitch about it, he took the time to sit down with Linda and the draw sheets to see if he could find a better way to do things. Help like that is always welcome.
The suggestion was made that the players could be polled. That's a fine idea. If a director wants to poll the players, he or she will do it. In fact, this often happens. Linda polled the players to see if they wanted progressive last chance or traditional last chance. A change was made based on the results of the poll. If someone other than a director wants to poll the players, I hope they will feel free to proceed. I'm sure the directors will appreciate the data.
Those that don't like the Giants list should do something else. Nothing is preventing another idea from being tried except lack of effort. Please don't convince Yamin and company that they are wasting their time with ingrates. Then we would have nothing.
