I don't think most would consider Turkey as part of Europe. There are different ways to define it and it's partly here, partly there geographically speaking but my bet is if you ask a European they'll say 'no'. Turkey is not part of the European Union, Turkey is not on the euro, but if you want travel insurance Turkey is considered part of Europe! Now, neither of the first two make or break you as far as being considered a European country, but it sure doesn't hurt.

If someone asked you countries you should visit in Europe would Turkey really come to mind as a European country? Definitely not for me.
