Turkey - EU relationship

Miran, thanks for the links.
Personally I would like to see Turkey as part of the EU, but there are many Europeans who'd want to keep it out.
Geographically, most of Turkey is in Asia, but, historically, Turkey has played an important part in Europe, especially the Balkans and Eastern Europe, large parts of which fell under the Ottoman empire. For example, if you visit Sarajevo in Bosnia, there is the Turkish quarter you can visit in the old city center. Sarajevo I believe is also a name with Turkish roots. You can look at Turkey as European and Asian at the same time, which historically and culturally makes the most sense. And that is part of what makes it an interesting country to visit.
