So what?

Backgammon-wise, Turkey is Europe.
I gladly include them in the European Backgammon Tour. They are great for the game and no other country has seen such a growth towards modern backgammon in the past 5 years as Turkey. They provide 2 great stops of he EBGT and co-provide 2 other stops in Cyprus (which, at the same time, happen to be the tournaments with the highest added money worldwide, on top of other things making it for many the best tournament in the world).
They attract over 200 players to their monthly tournaments in Istanbul (not counting those in other cities such as Ankara and Izmir), where they canīt win cash prizes but entries to other tournaments and prizes such as boards, laptops and flat screen TVīs, etc...
They do much more for backgammon and its growth than most of the countries I know.
Why exclude them from something European, just because of political borders or geographical situation? Even Israel, which is clearly not in Europe (not even partly) is included in some European competitions.
