Two questions for strong players - why and how?

If you're going to recommend books I think the first two must reads are Magriel's Backgammon and then Trice's Bootcamp. After that I would recommend Kit's books light years before Robertie's and then lastly, Robertie's but that's because that's almost the last of the major authors. I do like the Praxis series by Marty but am unsure of how they should fit in to one's study. I'm going from memory but it doesn't seem to me that any other author has published more than one modern work? There's Nack & Paul and Mary & Marty that I like but only one (backgammon) book.

There are also some other language books with good problems in them and once you're strong enough that you wouldn't read explanations anyway they're great to pick up and go through.
