World class

There isn't a right or wrong answer to this. To me, the phrase means something like, "at approximately the same level as the best in the world". If the best in the world can play at 2.5 or 3.0 or anything under 3.5, then 4.0 doesn't make the cut. I would think of world class as being something like the best 5, 10 or 20 in the world. I do not think that #50 in the world is approximately as strong as #1. That represents a huge difference in strength. The backgammon community throws around the term world class too easily. It cheats those who truly are world class from the recognition they deserve.
