I want to make a very narrow comment about this very wide topic.

A number of years ago, I had a financial disagreement with Stick over a very small sum of money. I didn't know him very well at the time. I was having some memory problems related to cholestoral medication. So, when Stick told me I had already been paid, I instantly accepted his recollection over mine. This seemed to give Stick great pleasure. He told me his version of the gamblers creed and how wonderful it was that there was such trust and honor among gamblers. He gave me a relatively long story of people he owed and people who owed him and how everyone was OK with everything and trusted each other even when payment was deferred for years. He was so happy at that moment that he even said something nice about MCG.

When Stick didn't mention the debt to you, I imagine that he wanted things to develop according to his vision of the way things should be. And, that actually was more important to him than the money.
