That does seem to be David's point, but using yourself as an example is rather odd, since you don't actually cheat. You'd feel sheepish about collecting money because you'd feel guilty. But if you're the type to feel guilty, then you're also the type not to cheat. Given that someone cheats, are they really going to be shy about collecting money? To answer this question, you have to look at the population of actual cheaters, and see how they behave. It makes no sense to examine the population of non-cheaters and imagine how they might behave if they were to cheat.
Anyway, even though I don't play online, much less gamble online, I find it disturbing that if I were to do so, and then (as is my custom) didn't bother (or forgot) to demand money from people who owed me money, then I would run the risk of being pegged as a cheater.
Apparently it's insufficient to be honest. One has to change one's behavior (e.g., rushing through one's moves, as Neil Kazaross does, and making sure to play worse than one usually does) in order to give the appearance of being honest.
