In Response To: Pair of moves??? (Maik Stiebler)

Isn't Snowie ER calculated by dividing EMG loss of one player by total number of moves (not pairs), and that's why it's usually much lower than gnubg-style ER,

Gnubg ER ignores forced moves, etc., unlike Snowie, so Gnubg ER is ... well, somewhere between 1.4 and 2 times higher than Snowie's -- I'm not sure what the exact number is.

XG and Gnubg calculate ER (PR) in nearly the same way (there are a couple of minor difference) but then with XG

PR = -(equity error per decision)*500

while with Gnubg

ER = -(equity error per decision)*1000.

The only reason to use 500 instead of 1000, as far as I can see, is that it puts XG PR numbers in the more Snowie-like range that most of us, including Gnubg users, are used to.
