O.K. That makes more sense than Christian's explanation, anyway. You've met Stick and I haven't, so you're in a better position to judge whether he's the kind to behave in the way you suggest.

Though, without such additional knowledge about Stick's personality, I find it consistent that if Stick did indeed play 2.3 routinely, then he wouldn't necessarily feel that 2.2 was anything special. Speaking for myself, when I play worse than I usually do, I get really upset, but when I play better than I usually do, I feel relief more than anything else, and wouldn't feel any inclination to brag. However, I'm also not the kind of person to play heads-up for money, so my own experience isn't that relevant in this case.
