The way I did my post hoc analysis was to go through GNU's temperature map, group together plays with similar equities, and then try to spot patterns. The in-between plays did more-or-less average out; however, that's not to say that it would be easy for a human to evaluate them as being roughly equal.

How, by the way, do you get the first tentative ranking ?

Exposing a second blot is worse (for White) than not exposing a second blot. Between the two plays that expose a second blot, one gives more shots.
