Backgammon Ethics

In Response To: Backgammon Ethics (myshlev)

I'm not a tournament backgammon player but having played chess for years notating games is second nature. I've often wondered why it's not done in backgammon or even required. I understand that many moves are pretty automatic and notating everything might noticeably slow everything down, but is there any other reason games aren't notated?
