...for an isolated cube-decision yes, not for a string of cube decisions.

We're currently playing a tournament in DBgF, where you are awarded 1 point for the win, and 1 point for the best error-rate (XGR++). If you win both, you get a bonus point (eg. 3 points for a "sweep").

Thus, it is important to play with a PR lower than your opponent, but the absolute PR size doesn't matter. Once you are confident that you have your opponent beaten in the analysis, you off-course need to apply enough adjustments as to win the match, but not "sacrificing" your PR advantage.

In one of my matches, I felt really really comfortable in the PR department after a couple or games. Off course we have a very precise rating system to help you, but actual play was really in my favor (I perceived) - the analysis agreed afterwards, at that point in the match I was playing a PR of around 1, and my opponent was playing around 18, keep in mind it was just in the beginning. So naturally I started to adjust accordingly, since I figured I had the analysis locked, and now "just had to win as well".

In a game that follows, a position occur, where I have my opponent play a backgame on my 4 and 5 points, with a lot of checkers in the air. I have to bring around some men to my 6-9 point prime, would probably take me a few rolls, and in the meantime I might get to put even more checkers in the air.

Now, this position is a theoretical double, and a very easy take!

Off course, I'm not cubing my (underdog) opponent here, when I'm 99% sure he will take. I'm waiting to bring my checkers further round the board, and double in when I'm more confident.

Thus over the next 7 moves, I get 6 missed doubles. Then I roll good and it actually becomes double/pass. I double, and my opponent takes (NOT to my surprise).

Even though I made the perfectly best play considering my opponents error-rate and pattern here, the XG options won't help all my missed doubles. Neither will looking at MWC-loss differences, for a string of errors like this.
