Both ExpertBackgammon-for-the-PC (commercial) and TD-Gammon (private) were available then. EXBG wasn't very good but its rollouts could show some surprising value. Kit had some access to TD-G but probably not enough to reshape his game. So basically I agree with you.

Hopefully when I'm wrong I'll be in good (pre-NN) company.

1) 25/22. I don't think the homeboard hit is worth stacking the 24-point.

2) 25/18. Pottle's Rule.

3) Very interesting. 22/18 (with 15/13) is worth consideration. But where does it lead? I'm probably going with the antiquarian play but I'll grab the second anchor [24/22] and then lay open for hassle purposes: 13/9.

4) Obviously 13/8 but then 8/5 or 6/3? I don't think saving a six is worth it here -- White has pretty decent timing. So I play 8/5.
