Certainly, your comment struck me also as I composed my posting.

It would not particularly bother me in the least. In fact, I let a wrong-side roll stand in Novi and it probably cost me the match. I only cautioned the player prior to his next roll to please roll on the correct side. His action had been inadvertent (he actually incorrectly rolled into the home board side on a bear-off, but he is left-handed) and the roll was otherwise legal, random, and valid (not cocked, etc.). It was the only time it had occurred in the match.

Maybe I should have said something immediately, but I didn't. The opponent is a most gracious, gentlemanly type.

Typically, I have no problem allowing someone to roll to an empty outer board side rather than into a crowded home board side, if I am asked. This would be even more appropriate in a clocked match.
