When Should Intermediates Move into the Open?

Not sure I believe this. I don't have a specific example in mind, but I don't think that a 3rd/4th in the Intermediate main, or a 2nd in the conso, is far off from the entry fee to the Open at that same venue.

Stick said: "The intermediate division isn't always jam packed. What if they win a small event?"

If they win, they move up. If they get 2nd, they should move up, but I could see an exception being made, if only once. If anything else, case by case.

Stick said: "I don't think intermediate players travel as much so if Player A wins the Chicago Open intermediate division he may not play another tournament for 6 months or even more. Was he supposed to put any money aside so that way off in the future he could enter the Open?"

For the non-traveller, yes. For the traveller, HECK yes. Why is this hard?
