1996 World Cup Quiz, or ask Doug Roberts

Anyone who has ever played chouette with Doug Roberts (or watched him chou as I have) knows he has names for all the doublets. I don't know where he got them but the following reference may relate, given that both Roberts and Robertie are from the Boston area.

Inside Backgammon, vol. 7 #3 (summer 1997) p. 11 in article titled "1996 World Cup Quiz Solutions" by David Montgomery, the quiz winner:

Problem 8 In each group, identify the person or item that does not belong: b) ducks, dogs, blasters, quacks, flakes.

(Answer) All of these except for dogs are terms for specific doublets. Ducks and quacks refer to double twos, blasters are double fours, and flakes are double fives.
