No recent responses so I decided to read what was written, figuring the play I liked (below) would have been covered. Snua mentioned it as a candidate but other than that...???

The first order of business for BOTH sides, IMO, is Blue's blot on his 4-point. White wants to hit it and Blue wants to cover it. As far as I can see (even with my glasses), a checker on the midpoint is going to play the 4. The question is which checker plays the ace, and if that one from the mid, does it play the ace before or after the 4?

If 13/12*/8, I count 18 return hits on Blue's 4-point and the consolation Fogerlund to hit on Blue's 8-point.

If 13/9/8, I count 13 plus the same consolation.

[Timothy mentioned lifting the blot 4/3, which does take away my primary concern but I didn't consider that before reading his post, and now that he's brought it up I don't like it anyway. :] (I definitely considered 13/9, 24/23, but think White should hit 20/16* if he can't hit 24/21*. Blue doesn't like that, either.)

Finally, I perceive the secondary issue of White getting into a real backgame (as in 24-23-20 or 24-21-20 or even 23-21-20). This can't happen without Blue helping White by sending another checker back.
