I asked Stick about this at an ABT event several years ago. As I recall, he said something like "look at this" as he gestured with his hands. Indeed. Look at this until you see how well your numbers, especially sixes, play next time due to the checkers on the eleven point. You will also get a double shot if the back checker runs into the outfield. And N leaves zero outfield shots or split back checkers vulnerable to a point on head shake. M suffers from joker replies of 33, 53, 55 and 64. E wastes time making an anchor which isn't very useful yet. E forces a second choice on 33, 53 and 55, but none of them are all that bad. I can't imagine playing anything other than N here.
