I have mixed feelings about this. I recently began playing BG and the WI tourney was only my second ABT event. Besides the social aspect of the tourney, I go to have the opportunity to play against the best players even though my play is at the intermediate level(or lower). Some hot dice occasionally overcome my blunders.

I do like the idea of awarding more trophies - - particularly in the Singles Championship and Advanced/Intermediate divisions. But I would suggest the tourney organizers award no more than 1 trophy for the side event winners.

From what I can tell, the tournaments seem to all offer Masters type tourneys with larger buy-ins which provide the opportunity for the true professionals to compete for significant cash prizes if that is their aim in attending.
