I assume you're asking if a single quad-core system is cheaper than two dual-core systems running at the same clock speed. I don't know but I questions this 3::2 ratio mentioned in the article. I.e. you can't compare just the price of the CPU's.

Interesting that most software can't take advantage of multi-cores so you see article after article in general computer magazines downgrading their value. BG-bots (BG-blitz and GNU-bg, as was mentioned) aren't your typical software. We BG enthusiasts really can (and do) take advantage of multi-cores. For my $, they're worth it.
