Hi, the president of ISTAVDER Fuat Erdag requested from me to translate his e-mail for this subject.
Fuat says that :
"I am the president of (ISTAVDER) ISTANBUL BACKGAMMON Association. I have been trying to support organizations who wants to establish their own assosicaions in Turkey.I have devoted myself to establish world's first official backgammon federation in my country. I do not make any profit from backgammon and i have been spending money for backgammon to be accepted as a sport.
Last year I attended the tournament held in mallorca EBGT made within the scope of EBGT. It was less than 13 people participated in the tournament if I'm not mistaken ...
The tournament was almost going to be canceld. Then Chiva has applied a system where the player has a chance to play until three matches were lost. After each round he used lottery for the next round matches. I liked the system very much. All other classical elimination systems were based on never loose principle. However, with the Chiva's system it was possible to play on even if you loose some of the matches. I have asked the name of the sytem to Chiva and he told me there is no name for the system. When I come back to Turkey, I have made a research about this system. It was applicable to tournaments where the number of players are less than 16. I have spend a lot of time on improving this system. It was easy to manage the tournament with low number of players. However, it was getting more and more complex when the number of players increased.
It was even possible to manage a tournament even with 300 or 400 players. We only need to have software which will make the eliminations randomly for each bracket. There was only one problem left for the last 3 players. The problem comes from the BYE right which will be assigned to the player who had the lowest number loses until that time. Finally, we have made a very good tournament system.

No one can say that this system can be used without taking permission from anyone. If he does he succumbs to his ego.
We have given the name "FMGAMMON" to our system in short.
Anyone can refer to it with another name.
Anyone can use our system over internet.
We will send a different username/password for the association who wants to use this system. We do charge any fee. It is totaly free to every backgammon player.
I do not have time to spend time in vicious debates. We have to do something for the backgammon. We have to increase the number of players by implementing new and interesting ideas.
