Do you want complete descriptions of algorithms to be patentable?

Would we like even just 5 classical and widely used algorithms, datastructures etc. to have been patented ?

Some patents on software and algorithms are so loosely and generically formulated theat they are bound to be a hinderance for other people's work and ideas and some are are describing things so ridiculously simple that you have to wonder what the real motivation was in the first place and how the patent could ever have been granted.
