Could you please explain what you mean by bigger context, because indeed I have not thought that very well.
I guess it includes
1) Deciding when to switch from a game plan to another. 2) Integrating the game plan that the score, cube position, etc. favour with the game plan I am following. 3) Following more than 1 game plans at a time. 4) Try understanding how this one roll I play now affects the future n rolls depending on how many rolls a game plan has?
Or am I completely out of that context?
When you say " to concentrate on "why" you are doing this instead of that as it will apply to other situations at other points in the game"
you mean:
try to understand every advantage and disadvantage of choice A compared to choice B,C? This sounds really deep for some cases where u have to take into account specific future numbers u or your opponent might roll and also the positioning of many checkers as small differences might dictate another plan. After doing that I can apply those advantages/disadvantages to other choices in other points in the game. Well I guess most of the times at least those points would be relevant at least.
This is what you mean? or my score is 0/2?
