Original message:
Yeah so here's the e-mail I got from Mr. Rick Janowsky on this subject. By his ironic-arrogant-prick-like tone it seems that what I'm asking for involves alot more then I thought. I'm pretty new to BG and the community so I apologize if this request was off.
Date: Wed, 22 Aug 2012 01:04:51 +0100 Subject: Please send me reference positions From: rick.janowski@ntlworld.com To: giulianosigma@hotmail.com
Please send me many useful reference positions with full data and analysis notes if possible. I don't intend returning the favour by providing any useful data of my own,or pay you anything for your efforts, but am quite happy for you to bust a gut on my behalf. I think helping me understand backgammon positions better. on its own, is perfectly sufficient incentive for you. Please send me the information as soon as possible, Tuesday week at the latest.
Thank you.
Your response:
"I had to share this," you wrote, but no, you didn't. Rick apparently didn't care for the perceived "tone" of your email to him, and you didn't care for his response. The "I was judging the [ironic-arrogant-prick-like] tone used, not the [ironic-arrogant-prick-like] person" excuse isn't working for me, since either way it seems that your intention in making private email public was to embarrass Rick. If I were him, I don't think I'd much appreciate the subtle difference. I wouldn't feel embarrassed, either, frankly.
No part of his initial post indicates that he sent out an email to Rick. In fact, there is evidence that is was not a reply by the lack of the RE: in the subject line, and the lack of original header from Giuliano Pietoso. If somebody sends an email with intentions like this I see no problem in publishing it, especially when it is attacking a new member of this forum. How are we supposed to grow and learn if questions are going to get a response like this one? That is not to say that there was not a valid point to the email, but a simple, "Be sure to use the search feature of this website" would get that point across. The "it is getting old" argument is hogwash. It was old day two of the internet, get over it and help each other understand how to use the resources of the internet efficiently.
