Steve,

I have a strong preference for clocks but will play this year regardless. Clocks are even more important in a Swiss since one slow match can hold up everyone. That is one reason why clocks for only some matches is not optimal for a Swiss.

Even if you don't clock the Main event please do clock doubles. I know that was not in the brochure but you can post and announce at the event. Nobody is going to claim that they wouldn't have shown up for the weekend if only they had known that doubles was clocked. With an 18 second delay everyone should be fine.

I agree you have a point about our more senior players. When I have played Larry Liebster with a clock, Pat Gibson gave both players a 15 second delay and we used a dice tube. That worked fine for Larry, who used far less time than I did.
