Not sure about playing-the-opponent here. :)

Split seems to give opp more than he deserves. The midpoint is heavy and bringing two down leaves ONLY 10 shots with a several returns. Getting a 3rd checker back seems a lot less painful than getting POH'ed, and those are the bad scenarios. When the builder-diversification play works it pays off with new blocking points compared to an advanced anchor which doesn't appear critical, yet.
