Neil Robins: That is certainly not my preference for XG rollouts, given the lack of dice rotation beyond the first roll. That’s fine, just so long as you are not operating under the misapprehension that you are using the same dice sequence for all rollouts.
Even when you use the same seed in all your rollouts, XG assigns a “random” seed. That is because it takes the user-supplied seed, and combines it with a hash of the checker position in order to create the seed that is actually used in a rollout.

http://www.bgonline.org/forums/webbbs_config.pl?noframes;read=68437In my database of early game rollouts, I have plenty of examples of rollouts of identical positions that cannot be combined because the rollers used identical seeds. Often that occurs when the default seed of 1 is never changed. It also appears, however, when users select their own “pet” seeds, such as 1296.
The best solution is to let XG select a random seed. Effectively, that’s what you are getting anyway.
