I observed that Ryan Hast, and others, were very diligent in recording results to record the match ending time during each round. A synopsis of those results would be most interesting to see. Perhaps Steve can make them available when they are compiled.
I agree the tournament, generally, ran smoothly. I played with a clock in every match of mine except one. I saw a few very long matches that I would not have enjoyed playing in. Stick vs. Tobias, was a great match and a very long match. Some felt Stick was purposely playing slow, I'm not sure, he can comment on that. The Bill Phipps vs. Tobias Masters semifinal lasted a very long time but was not holding anything else up. Some of the doubles matches were extremely long.
I like clocks. I like the mechanics of clocked games. I can appreciate that it may be reasonable to have a few unclocked tourneys for those that detest clocks -- however, I think they would find that clocks are not that big a deal if they'd try playing with them. Doubles absolutely should be clocked at every event.
Despite the clock arguments, the tournament was smooth, fun, and success. Great hospitality. Thanks to Steve and his staff for providing us the event.
