Two corrections:
  1. The HTML I placed within xmp codes once again previewed correctly, but had & nbsp; codes replaced with ASCII spaces when posted. Consecutive spaces were then collapsed into one.
  2. I posted the wrong line of HTML to begin with! Athough it may be futile, I will try the xmp codes again, but with the correct cube line. The cube line generated by XG has many consectuve & nbsp; characters. This time, I am placing the xmp tags both on the same line, with the cube HTML enclosed within. It looks OK in preview.
