XG Mobile Marketing train wreck

I agree with you, Phil, that for skill, speed and features, the complete XG is well worth $59.95 (and 20% off that, for USBGF members), and $10 for the mobile version doesn't seem overpriced.
I don't feel qualified to tell Xavier that the price for the mobile version should be $10 or $20 or $6.99, or to say much about either your claim that "every knowledgeable backgammon player in the world would gladly pay $20 for his amazing product," or Nick's claim that the "average tablet user will simply delete the app, not fork over ten bucks." I'd simply note that (1) the two of you seem to be talking about two very different markets, (2) I don't think the market for XG Mobile is defined by either the "average tablet user" or "every knowledgeable backgammon player," (3) at the Google Android app store NJ Backgammon for Android is priced at $7.99 and has 320 downloads at that site, while there are several free mobile backgammon apps there, one with 116,814 downloads, (4) at the Itunes store, Backgammon NJ HD is $6.99 and has about 2,000 customer ratings, a couple of free backgammon programs have about 10,000 and 20,000 customer ratings, and XG Mobile Backgammon so far has 33.
I do feel qualified to ask why it is "pretentious (to tell others what something is worth to them)"? I just did that myself right now, and that's what you do, too, when you tell everyone "I would have gladly paid 4 or 5 times as much for XG than Xavier charged for it" and "throw away your Snowie and GNU."
