In general I find that Robertie is not as careful as, say, Woolsey is about considering all viable candidates.

This has been a pet peeve of mine for a long time, and I agree Robertie is among the authors who falls short here. Marty Storer in both his published works (second with Mary) is IMO the best at listing alternatives. (Maybe you had some small influence on that in their What's your GP? book. :)

IMO, besides simply giving the reasons why the best play is best, a good teaching author owes his paying customers the courtesy of at least attempting to list errors they might have made. That requires anticipating errors of lesser mortals than themselves -- one of the things that separates the expert teachers from the expert players.
