Is "simple setting" actually what we use?

The problem here is, that many find Bronstein controls to be confusing or difficult to understand. Really, it is not that hard, but that's the case apparently.
That is so much the case, so organizers now prefer delay type of controls to Bronstein controls. If it's true that people cannot understand Bronstein or if this is just something that is true because a lot of people say so, I don't know. But the truth is, that the timing systems are 100% compatible, with the only difference being two things:
1) Bronstein controls require only one time to displayed for each player, thus removes the flaw that are so evident with the Saitek clocks.
2) You need to add one "delay" to the bank-time on a Bronstein clock (or subtract one on a delay clock if you like), to have the two controls give the same time, on any X/Y setting.
The big problem here is, that the market has been flooded with cheap delay clocks, and that it has now become the standard method of timing in US chess. I guess there's no way back.
My suggestion would be, to carefully revisit the backgammon tournament rules, to use the correct wordings for "simple delay" time controls, and add a notice that the delay should be added to the bank time, when you use Bronstein controls.
