OT - Ryder Cup?

Of course this one will go down among some as a great performance by the European team combined with a great choke by the USA team. Depending upon who you are and what your general disposition I expect it to be heavy on one side or the other.

For me the most memorable thing was the final few holes (especially last two) of the match between Justin Rose and Phil Michelson. On 17, leading by 1 hole, Michelson thought he made the perfect chip but it just missed. Rose followed by draining a long putt to tie the match. Michelson was beaming with praise for Rose's effort. On the 18th after Michelson missed his birdie putt, Rose again drained a long one to win the match 1 up. Again Michelson was all smiles in congratulating Rose and Justin was equally humble in acceptance.

For all the bullshit nationalism that this event has become, these two cut through the hype that brings people who don't understand the game by the networks and big money advertisers to see spitting, snarling, and booing. I'm sure they'll catch hell for it by some idiot writers and fans, too.

Sportsmanship is still alive, but unfortunately not well.
