Many clocks now have the option of multiple time controls. One time control can be used for an initial period and a second time control for a subsequent period. As this applies to backgammon, the rules could be changed to increase the delay time during the last minute of play to better accomodate things such as cocked dice. Initial reserve time could be decreased to approximately offset the extra time used due to a longer delay at the end of the game.
