Social aspect during live matches

Most people were not young and this gave me a weird feeling.
Old people weird you out? I'm creeped out by people who state they're uncomfortable around a particular class of people who are in that class merely by circumstance.
Do people play 90% of their matches without sharing their experience with the other player and prefer to enjoy the social fun separately between their matches?
I don't even understand what the hell this means. I'm supposed to entertain you during the match? Shall I make some balloon animals and strum the guitar for you while we're playing? It's an intellectual competition, I need to think in order to win. I think I play better when I'm focused, so too bad for you, I'm going into the tank. That's why I usually wear noise cancelling headphones and refrain from casual conversation. Besides, most of you aren't funny, and the thinly veiled snark is unwelcome.
Does social fun arise during matches in situations were time management is not crucial?
Sorry you aren't finding what you're looking for. Fun for me is winning, not banal chit chat. I am thoroughly weary of intra-match blather like, "Nice roll." "Wow, I couldn't believe you hit that fly shot." "Nice roll." "Isn't that three 66 in the last five rolls?" "Nice roll." "You're a better player than I thought." "Nice roll."
