Stepping OT now: baseball batting averages

In Response To: Why to stop at multiples of 1296 (Timothy Chow)

As a side note question (for anyone, of course), in Major League Baseball, do you expect the batting averages (rounded to 3 decimal places) of 0.299, 0.300, and 0.301 to be consistent with the full distribution across all player performances? (BTW, I didn't think up this question up myself.)
