Backgammon Server - Ratings or Not

Maybe I should have not been so hasty in submitting #3. I know from experience dealing with casual players who play on strictly no money play sites - that they play on such sites because there is no money play at all. Casual players on a hybrid (money/free play site) may attract a different clientelle. Your casual players may not be typical of other sites and maybe they won't care as much as the casual players on a place like SHG, MSN Gaming Zone etc.
I think having rated and non rated would at least give players the option if somehow they felt awkward having others know how badly they may play. If a casual player is stuck with ratings only and they end up at 1300 rating (and there are many like that on SHG in their rated room) they may be inclined to not use the site. On SHG people often create new accounts just to start over at 1500. If your site restricts a player to one account per person then it could be a bigger issue. I don't think you want to drive away free money play players. You generally want to keep the customer happy.
