Sorry to hear about your troubles. Hope your car insurance (at least) covers that problem.

...light in back of tower is faint geen and blinking... This sounds like the ethernet card/circuit saying its receiving a network signal. Do you have an ethernet cable connected?

Given that your desktop is 6 years old, you can likely replace it (with a modestly better one) for $350 at a brick and mortar store (e.g. Staples this week HP P6-2326 w/2.9 GHz dual core Pentium g645, 4BG ram, 1TB HD for $350). Or wait for Thanksgiving Weekend sales (which this year includes online "cyber Saturday").

If your computer got wet, even if the initial problem is the p.s. (which apparently is just a guess), putting more money into it doesn't sound good. Kinda like an old car -- put a new water pump in and then the alternator craps out... And computer obsolescence is much greater effect.
