Or simply if that PR10+ difference comes from passing too much or taking too deep!!
This match is many games old, so Mr. Melzi should have a feeling for his opponents profile.
Here you'd prefer to have your weaker opponent pass a take. The worst thing that can happen is that he takes a take! You'd prefer to have him pass a pass instead. That all points toward cubing a little bit later than usual. How much later? That depends on your opponents error profile (eg. the trade-off between going for a large error, or going for bigger chance for a small error).
