Certifiable!
You'll more than double your net gammon worth from the starting position alone. You'll triple your net gammons to 300% when you make a point from the opening roll 28% of the time; 200% when you slot the 5pt followed by a non hit. I'm gathering you figured that most if not all of these scenarios's lead to comfortable takes, while none offer very little in the way of a dilemma to your opponent. In turn, a smaller gammon threat that threatens to swing the position creates a much larger impact on said dilemma than an immediate cube offering a much greater net gammon return.
Last or near to last cube turns where the opponent's position can no longer improve beyond the point in which any skill difference would have very little impact could exert a "think twice" policy on acting.
Conversely, an immediate cube will present many obstacles, dilemma's and "think twice policies until the end of the game.
